By Spencer Manila | In a meaningful step toward social inclusion and equitable care, Barangay Lipay benefited from a community-driven initiative that supported one of its most vulnerable populations—Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). Implemented by Eramen Minerals, Inc. under its Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), the project provided rice subsidies to selected PWD beneficiaries, helping to ease their daily burdens and reaffirming their value within the community. The initiative was carried out with a focused allocation of Php 11,550.00.

This project is part of Eramen Minerals, Inc.’s broader commitment to sustainable community development and improved quality of life in its host and neighboring communities. It reflects an integrated approach to social responsibility that goes beyond compliance, focusing on empowerment and inclusive support.

As part of the first quarter accomplishments, a total of 19 local health stations across the area were equipped with essential supplies, including medicines, food supplements, medical materials, and other health-related provisions. This distribution strengthens the capacity of local health units to provide responsive, community-based care, especially for underserved sectors.

Many PWDs in Barangay Lipay face ongoing challenges such as financial constraints and restricted mobility, making access to staple goods like rice a significant concern. By addressing these fundamental needs, the program exemplifies inclusive and compassionate development work.

For beneficiaries, the support extended beyond sustenance—it symbolized recognition, hope, and dignity. For the implementing team and community leaders, it underscored a shared commitment to uplift every member of society.
