By Camilla Bañares | On April 5, 2025, Eramen Minerals Incorporated (EMI) celebrated World Water Day with a special event in Barangay Sabang, Sta. Cruz, Zambales. Although World Water Day is officially on March 22, the celebration was postponed to allow for better planning and to accommodate ongoing work in the area. This year’s theme was “Bayanihan sa Katubigan, Krisis sa Klima Labanan,” which emphasizes the importance of teamwork in protecting our water and addressing climate change.
A key part of the event was an information campaign designed to help people understand why clean water is vital, how to dispose of waste properly, and how climate change affects our water resources. The campaign encouraged everyone to participate in taking care of our water supplies, highlighting that we all share the responsibility of protecting this precious resource for the future.
To get everyone involved, EMI also organized a beach cleanup in Barangay Sabang. Staff and volunteers joined forces to collect trash from areas near the water and coastline, helping to keep our waterways clean and safe for the environment. The event reinforced the idea that protecting our water is an ongoing effort that requires awareness and commitment from all of us.
