By Jeric Meer | As part of its ongoing commitment to community development through the Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), Eramen Minerals, Inc. (EMI) recently distributed learning materials and equipment worth ₱5,000 to the Lucapon North Day Care Center. The center is among several educational institutions in Sta. Cruz, Zambales that benefited from the company’s 2025 SDMP implementation.

This effort forms part of a larger educational support program amounting to ₱301,414.44, aimed at enhancing the learning conditions in daycare centers, elementary schools, and high schools throughout the municipality. The initiative delivers age-appropriate materials and teaching aids to strengthen classroom instruction and improve access to basic education.

Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, the initiative supports inclusive and equitable learning opportunities for all, particularly in underserved communities. By addressing resource gaps in local schools, the program contributes to improving educational outcomes and empowering young learners in the area.

Implemented under the mandates of the Philippine Mining Act of 1995, the SDMP reflects the company’s responsibility to contribute to the holistic development of its host and neighboring communities. In addition to education, EMI’s SDMP programs also focus on health, livelihood, infrastructure, and environmental stewardship.

Local school personnel welcomed the support, noting its value in enhancing both teaching effectiveness and student engagement. The assistance is expected to help educators deliver better lessons while allowing students to learn in a more supportive environment.
