By John Ace Estrellado | Eramen Minerals, Inc. celebrated National Women’s Month on March 29, 2025, with a full day of activities dedicated to honoring and empowering women. The event began with an energetic Zumba session led by Zumbalovers, SCZ, promoting health, wellness, and camaraderie among participants. After the Zumba session, Marie Iris V. Dueñas, Geology and Mining Engineering Department Head, delivered an inspirational talk, highlighting the resilience, strength, and vital role of women in the workplace and beyond.
An informative discussion with PEMS Liela B. Espinosa of Sta. Cruz MPS covered women’s rights and protection laws, including the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act (Republic Act No. 9262) and the Bawal Bastos Law or Safe Spaces Act (Republic Act No. 11313). This session provided valuable insights into legal protections and gender equality, empowering participants with knowledge on how to uphold and advocate for women’s rights.
Creativity flourished in the Card-Making Competition, where participants expressed their appreciation for women through art. To recognize and honor all attendees, roses were given as a symbol of gratitude and respect. The event concluded with the awarding of winners from the Card-Making Competition and Advocacy Video Making Competition, celebrating the participants’ efforts in championing women’s empowerment.
This initiative was part of Eramen Minerals Inc.’s Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) through its Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) initiative, supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality.
