Zero Waste in Action: EMI Leads Sustainable Clean-Up Drive

EMI Leads Sustainable Clean-Up Drive - Eramen Minerals Inc.

By Immaculate Anne Largo | Every piece of waste managed responsibly today builds a cleaner, sustainable world for tomorrow.

In celebration of Zero Waste Month 2026, Eramen Minerals, Inc. (EMI) conducted a clean-up drive on January 20, 2026, at its Basecamp and key mine facilities, engaging 60 employees in a hands-on activity that combined environmental action with safety awareness. Prior to the clean-up, participants attended a briefing on safety protocols and proper waste segregation, ensuring that all efforts were conducted responsibly and efficiently.

The collected waste—including residual, recyclable, and biodegradable materials—was carefully sorted and turned over to EMI’s Material Recovery Facility (MRF). Biodegradable waste was repurposed to improve soil quality, recyclables were prepared for upcycling, and residual waste was disposed of through accredited partners. This approach not only reinforces the principles of the 5Rs—Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover, and Refuse—but also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12 on Responsible Consumption and Production.

Through initiatives like this, EMI demonstrates that environmental stewardship is more than a policy—it is a daily practice that engages employees, protects natural resources, and promotes sustainable operations. By actively participating in waste management and sustainable practices, the Company ensures that each action contributes to a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient environment.
